KFF rules out double sporships in the same league.

The Kenya Football Federation (KFF) has made it unlawful for one entity to sponsor more than one team in the same league.

KFF Secretary General Sammy Obingo said the order is in line with KFF Article 53.4 which reads "No Commercial Enterprise, private person or other legal entity shall own or have a controlling interest in more than one member club playing in the same league."

He regretted that because of the confusion in soccer management in the last few years, this Article has been overlooked and the net result is as late as last year, clubs belonging to the same organization either through direct ownership or trustees have participated in the same leagues, i.e. Kenyan Premier League, Nationwide League and Provincial/District Leagues.

Obingo said Power Kericho Fc will be kicked out of the nationwide league as a result of this rule coming into effect. He said Power Fc is owned by Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited 
(KPLC) which also sponsors Nairobi Stima FC in the same league and as a result one of the teams must be allowed to go. Power Fc finished behind Nairobi Stima during last year?s Nation-Wide 
league competition and have to compete in the lower league next season.

Obingo said Utawala Fc has been rejected after requesting to feature in the Nation-Wide league. This is because the team is owned by the Administration Police who already have another team in the same league.
